Hi, my name is Alia. Here at BBC Beauty Academy I was introduced to the OVR Program. The OVR Program is a program that funds schooling for impaired or disabled people. Now I know, I know….. most of us do not label or use our shortcomings to stop or excuse us. So I had to get out of my own way and not let it stop me from receiving benefits that would help me immensely! Now I’ll be honest, OVR is no walk in the park! It’s a process. You must be considered impaired or disabled by your dr. You will have a series of Dr.’s appointments, documents to fill, and papers to sign. Lastly, it takes time, but when it’s over it’s so worth it! So rewarding. They have paid for my schooling, my hearing aides, and my state board exam.

The Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR) serves people who have disabilities that present a substantial impediment to employment. Services are provided to individuals to prepare for, secure, retain, advance in or regain employment. OVR has 21 District Offices located around the state. Our counselors work every year with thousands of persons who have physical, mental or emotional disabilities.
